A Typical Project

These are the steps once you've signed up for a new project and are ready to get started.

  1. Pre-Kickoff
    Before the project starts, we'll send you an informational document to fill out and return. The document simply requests details such as contact persons, domain names, social media links, etc. Once we receive this back we will get in touch to schedule the project kickoff.
  2. Project Kickoff
    During the initial kickoff call, clients are introduced to their website designers and developers. Together, we will further clarify the project process, design details and determine the Project Managers for both the Financial Institution and FIS. At this time, we will also discuss the technical aspects of the project, such as who will be maintaining the websites' Domain Names. After the call, the FIS Project Manager will send meeting minutes to all participants of this kickoff meeting, including an estimated project timeline.
  3. Mockup Design and Revisions
    The Mockup Design phase varies in length depending on plan. normally takes several weeks. During this time, the designer will send an initial mockup which can then be modified based on the FI's input and decisions. Depending on the size of the project, internal landing or subpage designs may need to be created and approved as well.
  4. Website Build & Content Addition
    Once the mockup(s) are approved, we will begin to build out your website on our development server. Typically, this is the longest phase of the project, especially if you are working to provide us with new or updated content. Partway through this process, the developer with provide you with a test link to your development website so you can follow along.
  5. Website Final Revisions & QA
    When the website build is mostly complete and the majority of the content has been added, the designer and the FI will work closely together to finalize any changes. At this time, both the client and the designer will begin thorough Quality Assurance testing. We will check for any final problems such broken links or incorrect formatting and will also verify that all the back-end project tasks have been completed.
  6. Project Sign Off
    Sign off is required before FIS can make your website live. FIS must be in receipt of your approved sign off document at least one week prior to your scheduled go live date.
  7. Go-Live
    On a pre-approved date FIS will update the DNS records to make your new website live. Typically it only takes a few minutes for the change to propagate across the internet, although it can sometimes take up to 24 hours.
  8. Client Training
    Post go-live, FIS will provide Content Management System (CMS) Training for your new website via an online meeting in order to allow you to get acquainted with the system. During this two hour training session, you will learn how to make text changes, upload documents and images, create new pages, and add new users. You will also hear helpful tips on Accessibility and Search Engine Optimization (SEO).
